Martha is responsible for the financial operations of the Michigan SBDC including the Michigan SBDC Lead Center, the grants management function and the financial operations of the 11 Michigan Small Business Development Regional Centers located across Michigan.
Prior to joining the Michigan SBDC Lead Center team, Martha served 20 years at Grand Valley State University. Her roles at the University include: Accounting Assistant at Facilities Planning, Accounting Associate to Senior Accountant in the Business & Finance Unit, Accounting Office. Of the 20 years, Martha served 13.5 years managing all post-award financial grant functions of sponsored agreements, acting liaison between external university auditors and Accounting office for the annual Single Audit report, as well as other annual specialty reports. Before coming to GVSU, Martha also worked nearly 12 years at a local public school system.
Martha graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2009 with a master’s degree in public administration, Nonprofit Management & Leadership, and 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She was certified in grants management in November 2008 and holds a Distinguished Toastmaster designation since 2005.
