Jennifer M. Deamud, MS, MPA is the Chief Operating Officer and the Associate State Director of the Michigan Small Business Development Center. Deamud is a results-oriented leader with over twenty years’ experience encompassing strategic communications, team building, strategic planning and program implementation. Under her vision to build an organizational culture committed to transforming businesses and communities, Deamud has led the Michigan SBDC network through effective strategic planning and implementation, and through the 2016 accreditation process with positive outcomes.
Deamud earned a bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations, a master’s degree in Public Administration and a second master’s degree in Communications from Grand Valley State University (GSVU). She has completed several leadership programs including GVSU’s Leadership program and Rising Women Leaders program through the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce
Deamud participates on a number of national, state and community boards including the America’s SBDC Board, America’s SBDC Accreditation Committee, Michigan Main Street Council, Grand Rapids Chamber’s ATHENA Council, Woman’s Resource Center Board and Vice President of the Byron Days Festival Board. Deamud also spends time as a Girl Scout troop leader and mentor to women exiting jail through the New Beginnings program at the Women’s Resource Center.
Deamud has received recognition for her leadership and community involvement throughout her career including being selected as one of the 50 Most Influential Women in West Michigan, YWCA Tribute Award for Community Service, Grand Rapids Business Journal’s “40 Under Forty” award, the LeAnne Moss Service award from Grand Rapids Opportunities for Women and the National Association of Small Business Development Center’s Michigan State Star Award.
