Diana Dimitroff has extensive experience in all aspects of starting a business. Diana has been supporting an SBDC Consultant for a year with initial contact and getting started documentation. Diana is a Facilitator for Schoolcraft College and Eastern Michigan University, conducting the “Starting a Business” course at the Small Business Development Center. I have experience in a variety of business concepts: home based, Gourmet Retail Coffee and Child Development Centers. Experience in different business types: Contractor, Franchisee, S Corporation and Corporation.  

Diana implemented an extensive training and education program for new staff. Successfully training more than 30 staff members a year. Owned and operated 4 profitable businesses for the past 30 years. Diana attended the SBA Starting a Business courses offered before starting her first business over 30 years ago. Lectured at Madonna University and Schoolcraft College in business and food related topics.

Diana has a B.S. Degree in Food Systems Management from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts in Management from Central. Michigan University.

Jodie Beckley is the Director of the Small Business Development Center at Schoolcraft College in the Southeast Region of Michigan.  Prior to joining SBDC, Jodie spent 12 years in the education management industry, and led several divisions at EdisonLearning that focused on client assessment and counseling and drove operating performance to deliver annual revenues of $33.5M.  She also improved customer satisfaction by building and maintaining effective client relationships and providing high quality service delivery. As head of the Alternative Education department, Jodie was responsible for developing operational programs and training directors on how to run their drop-back in centers as small businesses, resulting in increased retention, graduation rates, and improved P&L. Before working in the private sector she served as a principal, an assistant principal, and a Spanish teacher in grades K-12. Jodie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and International Studies from Wichita State University, a Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction, also from Wichita State University, and an MBA from Michigan State University.

Wendy Thomas is the Regional Director of the Southeast Michigan Region.  She has been with the network for over 20 years and has served in leadership, consulting, training, and administrative roles.

Wendy has counseled hundreds of start-ups and existing businesses over the years resulting in clients obtaining financing as well as launching and growing their small businesses. She assisted clients by using her problem solving skills and expertise in the key business areas of marketing, financing, and business planning. Wendy also serves on several small business advisory boards and committees.

Wendy was named Small Business Consultant of the Year by the Small Business Administration. It was the first time that this award had been given to a SBDC consultant. She received recognition for Outstanding Volunteer for the CEED Detroit Loan Program and Michigan Small Business Center of Excellence and Innovation Award. Wendy is also certified as a Small Business Consultant and a Small Business Administration Export Trade Specialist.

Wendy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Michigan State University, Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Entrepreneurship, and a Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from Eastern Michigan University. Wendy is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies. She also complimented her academic achievements with studying business practices abroad in Asia and Europe including China, England and France.
