The Small Business Administration and the SBA funded Michigan Small Business Development Center have partnered to bring small business owners a unique opportunity to prepare for financing. Getting to Yes provides an innovative solution to an age-old problem…increasing access to capital. This challenging fast-track program will help you to complete your loan package and submit it to a variety of lenders of your choice. This is a great way to increase your chances of receiving a loan approval.
Getting to Yes will prepare you to meet with lenders and apply for financing. The program is based on a four phases
- Mock Loan Presentation
- Meet the Lenders
You’ll learn how to integrate business plan elements, market research, and financial projections into a winning loan package. Training sessions will teach you about commercial credit, SBA loan products, and how best to present a loan request to a lender. Finally, when you’re ready you will meet privately with a variety of lenders of your choice and present your loan proposal.
- You will have a completed, lender ready loan package with the support of experienced Small Business Development Center advisors.
- You will receive critical feedback from bankers that will enhance your formal presentation to lenders.
- You will save time going from lender to lender.
- You will meet interested lenders that you might not have considered.
Who Can Participate
Business Owners in Metro Detroit
- Small businesses in need of financing to support growth
- Completed two-years of profitable business operations
- Agree and commit to completing each phase of the program
- Apply and be selected for the program
Phase 1: Consultation begins when you have been accepted into the program. During this time, you will meet with your Small Business Development Center business consultant to confirm your financing needs with a review of your credit reports, financial statements, and tax returns. You will develop a polished loan application package with key business plan elements, including financial projections and supportive market research. Together with your consultant, you will determine which lending institutions are best suited to your loan request.
Phase 2: Blue Sheet Ready Training, May 24, 2016, 10:00 a.m. – Noon
The “Blue Sheet” is a traditional banking document used by lenders to compile all the key financial data for a loan request. This session will use your loan application formation to explain how lenders really evaluate a loan request and give you a view from the other side of the desk.
Phase 3: Mock Loan Committee, June 14, by appointment
Present your loan proposal to a committee of commercial lending experts and receive feedback on your proposal during a 30 minute appointment. This session is intended to be a simulation of an actual loan committee meeting and is excellent preparation for your formal meeting with lenders.
Phase 4: Meet the Lender, June 28, by appointment
Participate in Meet the Lenders during which you will meet privately with a wide variety of conventional and non-conventional lending institutions to present your loan proposal.
