Small Business Spotlight – Gyve

October 9, 2019 - 2 minutes read

When Morgan Mudge needed help launching a new product he reached out to the Michigan SBDC for assistance. Technology Team consultants Scott Taylor and Melanie de Vries were able to help him with not only with the launch but with company growth and success down the line.

His product was Gyve, an app that simplifies a church’s donation process by serving as an online generosity platform. It is the only generosity platform that combines the power of donor analytics with six different ways to give: Change Round-Up, One-Time, Recurring, Text-to-Give, Online, and Kiosks giving.

Scott began by helping Morgan to secure funding for the initial product launch. This involved writing a business plan, finding an investor, and preparing marketing strategies.

“Using the Michigan SBDC to launch Gyve made the process so much easier” said Morgan, “They had the knowledge and resources to help prepare me for success and continued to support the company through future transitions.”

Gyve was a success once launched, and the Michigan SBDC was able to continue helping the company grow. They conducted market research, offered expert recommendations, and connected them with other partners such as Ann Arbor SPARK, who was able to support them as a virtual tenant and provided them grant funded services.

In 2019 Gyve was acquired by Cass Information Systems, Inc (NASDAQ:CASS). Scott was able to assist with proposing strategies and navigating the acquisition process so that Morgan and team made the transition comfortably. Gyve remains a growing success at NASDAQ:CASS, where it aligns with their mission to form strong community impact.
