Michigan Small Business Development Center Recognizes Eric Seifert as State Star

Grand Rapids, MI – The Michigan Small Business Development Center (MI-SBDC) State Director Keith Brophy announced that Eric Seifert has been selected as the 2015 State Star of the Michigan SBDC. This award honors an individual who is an exemplary performer, makes a significant contribution to their State and Regional SBDC programs, and shows a strong commitment to small businesses.

“We are incredibly excited to recognize Eric Seifert as the 2015 State Star,” commented Brophy.  “His commitment to serving small businesses in the West Michigan Region and the impact he has helped create truly embodies the characteristics of the State Star award.”

Seifert, a Business Growth Consultant based out of Grand Valley State University, began his career with the MI-SBDC in 2008, working with a wide variety of startups and existing businesses, and quickly proved his ability to help clients prepare for loans and achieve financing. During the economic crisis of 2009-2011, his experience, resource knowledge, and lender relationships helped save many companies from foreclosure.

Throughout his time working with small businesses at the MI-SBDC, Seifert has generated a total capital formation of $51,535,080 including loans, owner investment, and other capital, has helped businesses create 385 jobs, retain 256 jobs, and helped 15 different businesses launch.

His present focus is financing and Transition Planning, assisting businesses move to another generation, management buyouts, mergers and acquisitions. He has hosted the successful “How to Buy or Sell a Business” conferences in West Michigan for the past nine years.

Seifert is well respected by clients and colleagues. It is not just his business knowledge and experience that make him excellent resource for entrepreneurs and business owners, but also his genuine care for the clients he serves.

He is the administrator for the Muskegon Angels program.

Seifert received his award at the 2015 America’s Small Business Development Center Annual Conference, held in San Francisco this September.
